Palamós, the Empordà region and the Costa Brava

The Empordà region encompasses the whole history of Catalonia in a small area: from a large number of prehistoric remains to the most modern and cosmopolitan towns, including pre-Roman ruins, medieval settlements, old fishing villages, fortifications against pirate attacks, etc.

The coastline (the Costa Brava), the Pyrenees mountains to the north and the beautiful city of Girona to the west make up its most well-known boundaries.

Palamós is the closest town to Camping Benelux. It is a medium-sized town of 18,000 inhabitants where you'll find a whole range of attractions: cinemas, excellent restaurants, pubs and bars, the Fishing Museum, boutiques and shopping centres, supermarkets, etc.

In summer the town organizes concerts, Sardana dances, children's festivals and many other activities.

The next-closest town is Palafrugell and its wonderful beach resorts (Calella, Llafranc and Tamariu) and the nightlife and shopping attractions of Platja d'Aro. All of them are linked by dual carriageway. You are also within easy reach of Girona (about 45 minutes), Figueres (1 hour) and Barcelona (1.5 hours).
